Today I'm chatting with Coach, Speaker, facilitator, activist, charity founder – Megan Jaworski, an enthusiastic optimist who’s dedicated to helping you reconnect to who you truly are with courage and conviction about the 10 steps to turn desire into action (Breaking through resistance to achieving things).

1. Be clear on what you desire.

What is it that you actually desire?

  • Because sometimes what we think we desire, when we have it, we realise we didn’t really desire it in the first place.

How to get clear on what you desire?

  • Close your eyes and listen to your breath then answer this question – what breaks your heart?
  • What words, images, problems, causes in this world come to mind that you want to be a part of the solution?

 2. Know why you desire it.

  • For what purpose do you desire this?
  • If you achieved this, what would it give you?
  • How would it benefit others (because when the going gets tough, your why needs to be greater than you to continue to push through the hard times to achieve it)?

3. Create an identity that aligns to this.

  • What characteristics do you need to focus on and develop to achieve this?
  • What values do you need to live by and how will you know you’re living according to them?
  • How do you need to see yourself in order to achieve this?

4. Implement a growth mindset

  • Believe that your talents and skills can be developed.
  • Take 100% responsibility for your life – success and losses.
  • Learn from others
  • Embrace change
  • View challenges as opportunities
  • Stop seeking approval and life by what you believe is true and beautiful.

5. Question your thoughts

  • Know that you are not your thoughts and you have the power to change them.
  • Forgive your thoughts.
  • What you focus on is what you get. Is what you’re focusing on leading you closer to your desired outcome?
  • Choose a new thought.

6. Create empowering beliefs

  • What do you currently believe to be true about yourself?
  • Is it helping you or harming you?
  • What can you believe instead that would lead you closer

7. Implement habits that support your new identity

  • What would you do on a regular basis that would bring you one step closer to what you desire?
  • Break it down and choose one new habit to implement that would help you the most. Ie. writing in a gratitude journal to support your growth mindset.

8. Have the end in mind

  • What is the outcome of what you want to achieve?
  • Go back to your why
  • If you already had this, who would you be and what would you do?

9. Take small steps daily

  • When we break down our big goal or ambition into small manageable steps we don’t feel so overwhelmed and we’re more likely to achieve our outcome.
  • Even setting one small task per day will move you closer and it will be easier to overcome resistance and setbacks.

10. Celebrate the big and small wins!

  • When we celebrate our achievements, it’s creating positive neurological pathways, so you’re more likely to repeat the same action that led you to success.
  • It’s teaching your unconscious mind that success/achievement = celebration.
